ECONOMIC REVIEW 2006 OF THE SHOPFITTING INDUSTRIE IN HOLLAND

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

ISO Congress 28.04.07

The Dutch economy knew a growth-rate in 2006 of 2.9%. This is twice as much as in 2005. Important components of the growth are the increasing export, the consumption of households and new investments. There is a slowly but steady increasing level of consumption spendings. Households spent 2.4% more then in 2005. It is the by far the highest growth in the last 5 years. Furniture sellings went up with 6%.

The shopfitting industrie had very bad years from 2002 till 2004. In 2005 it went better and since 2006 we are in a good shape. Retailtrade,  construction-industry, and some other economic indicators are positive. Retailers earned money in 2005 and are spending that now for new shop-concepts.  Since long time the results for the shopfittingfirms are increasing.

The unemployment rate is decreasing and about 4% on this moment. Because of that it is very difficult to get skilled labour. Some of our firms are outscoursing production to the low cost countries, but it is not yet a big amount.
